Ballroom Dancing

On a summer afternoon in 2009, I reluctantly accompanied my sister to TG Danzport, a local dance studio, for what I thought would be my first and last ballroom dance lesson. Against all odds, I instantly fell in love with ballroom dancing. It was enchanting. The more we trained, the more we loved ballroom dancing because it allows us to be creative and to express ourselves in many different and beautiful ways. While there are steps and guidelines, there are no exact formulas that work all the time. It is the interpretation that makes a dancer unique. Now, as an experienced dancer, when I am on the dance floor, dancing becomes my entire world. Serious dancing is not easy and requires extreme discipline, for looking graceful and poised is nothing short of hard work. But, most of the time, dancing is magical. It really does feel like flying.  What started as a recreational activity has blossomed into a passion which will always be part of my life. Currently, my sister and I are gold level dancers, proficient in American Style: American Smooth (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, and Viennese Waltz) and American Rhythm (Cha-Cha, Rumba, Swing, Bolero, and Mambo), and compete as an amateur couple.
